Terms of Service
Last updated: August 16, 2026 · Draft pending attorney review
1. What PlaneReports Is
PlaneReports is an aircraft history report platform operated by Hound Dog Aviation LLC. We aggregate publicly available aircraft data — FAA registry records, NTSB accident reports, FAA airworthiness filings — together with records that owners and their mechanics choose to upload, and present it in a structured, scored format to help buyers, owners, brokers, and mechanics evaluate aircraft history.
We are an information platform. We do not buy, sell, broker, finance, insure, inspect, or appraise aircraft. We provide data; you make decisions.
2. Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years old and able to form a binding contract to create a PlaneReports account or purchase anything from us. If you are using PlaneReports on behalf of a company, partnership, flight school, shop, or other entity, you represent that you are authorized to bind that entity, and "you" in these terms means both you and that entity.
PlaneReports is offered from the United States and is intended for users in the United States. We make no representation that the service is appropriate or available for use elsewhere.
3. Use of the Service
You may use PlaneReports for any lawful purpose related to the evaluation, ownership, sale, brokerage, financing, insurance, maintenance, or research of aircraft. You agree NOT to:
- Scrape, copy, or republish PlaneReports report content for commercial redistribution without our written permission
- Use the platform to harass, defame, or otherwise harm any individual or business
- Attempt to bypass security controls, access controls, or rate limits
- Use automated tools to mass-generate reports without an authorized API agreement
- Submit false, misleading, altered, or fraudulent records or information through the platform
- Submit records for an aircraft you do not own, operate, maintain, or otherwise have the right to submit records for
4. Data Accuracy — Important Disclaimer
Specifically:
- FAA Registry data is updated by the FAA. We refresh our copy monthly. Recent ownership changes may not yet appear.
- NTSB accident data covers incidents reported to the NTSB. Not every accident or repair is reported.
- FAA Form 337 records reflect filings the FAA has received and processed. Unfiled or undisclosed major work won't appear.
- Maintenance logbook entries shown in a PlaneReports record reflect what an owner or mechanic has uploaded. Gaps, errors, omissions, and altered documents are possible. We do not authenticate uploaded documents.
- The PlaneReports Score, any band or grade, and any figure describing cost of ownership are algorithmic summaries of available data. They are not a guarantee or determination of aircraft condition, airworthiness, or value, and they are not an appraisal.
If you're using a PlaneReports report to inform a purchase, sale, financing, or insurance decision involving real money, always pair it with appropriate professional inspection and review.
5. Not Professional Advice
Nothing in PlaneReports constitutes financial advice, legal advice, tax advice, investment advice, airworthiness certification, mechanical inspection, or appraisal. Reports are informational. Airworthiness and condition are determined solely by a certificated mechanic or repair station and by the owner/operator. Value is determined by the market and by a qualified appraiser. Consult licensed professionals — A&P mechanics, designated airworthiness representatives, certified appraisers, attorneys, financial advisors, insurance brokers — for decisions in their respective domains.
6. Disclaimer of Warranties
We do not warrant that the service will be uninterrupted, secure, or error-free, that defects will be corrected, or that any report is complete or accurate. No advice or information, whether oral or written, obtained from PlaneReports creates any warranty not expressly stated in these terms. Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of certain warranties, so parts of this section may not apply to you.
7. Accounts and Subscriptions
Some PlaneReports features require an account or a paid product. Our current products are the Buyer's Report, PlaneReports Verified, PlaneReports Verified · A&P, Own & Protect, and the Broker / Dealer Desk. Product names, contents, and prices may change; the offer that governs your purchase is the one displayed at checkout. When you create an account or purchase a product:
- You're responsible for keeping your login credentials secure and for activity under your account
- You'll be billed per the product or tier you select; subscriptions auto-renew unless cancelled
- You may cancel any subscription at any time; cancellation stops future charges but does not retroactively refund completed billing cycles
- We reserve the right to suspend accounts that violate these terms or that are used fraudulently
8. Payment and Refunds
Payments are processed by Stripe, Inc., our third-party payment processor. When you check out, you are redirected to Stripe's hosted checkout page and provide your card details directly to Stripe under Stripe's terms and privacy policy. PlaneReports does not receive or store your full card number. We receive from Stripe a record of the transaction — amount, product, status, and limited identifying details such as the last four digits and card brand.
One-time report purchases are generally non-refundable once delivered. If a report contains demonstrable errors that materially misrepresent the aircraft, contact us and we will work with you in good faith to correct, re-issue, or refund as appropriate.
Subscription cancellations are effective at the end of the current billing period. Prices are in US dollars and exclude any applicable taxes.
9. Records You Upload
You keep ownership of the records you upload. Uploading a logbook page, receipt, Form 337, photograph, or any other document or image to PlaneReports does not transfer ownership of it to us.
By uploading, you grant Hound Dog Aviation LLC a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to store, copy, process, index, extract data from, analyze, display, and create derived records and scores from that material, for the purposes of operating and improving PlaneReports and of providing the reports and features you or the aircraft's owner have asked for. This licence lasts as long as we host the material, and survives only to the extent needed for records we are legally required to retain or that have already been incorporated into a report delivered to a third party.
You represent that you own the records you upload or otherwise have the right to submit them, and that submitting them does not violate anyone else's rights. You are responsible for what you upload.
If you close your account, or if a paid subscription lapses, we will retain your uploaded records for a reasonable period so that you can restore access or export them, and will delete them on request as described in our Privacy Policy. Non-payment does not by itself cause immediate deletion, and it does not transfer ownership of your records to us.
10. Intellectual Property
PlaneReports reports, report layouts, scoring methodology, code, designs, logos, and branded materials are the intellectual property of Hound Dog Aviation LLC. You may share individual reports with parties involved in your specific aircraft transaction (a buyer with their A&P, a broker with a prospective buyer). You may not bulk-redistribute, re-host, or commercially resell report content without a written license.
Underlying public-record data (FAA registry, NTSB records, etc.) remains in the public domain.
11. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Hound Dog Aviation LLC, its officers, employees, contractors, and affiliates are not liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, special, or punitive damages arising from your use of PlaneReports — including, without limitation, damages for lost profits, lost opportunities, loss of data, business interruption, or transaction losses related to aircraft purchases or sales informed by PlaneReports data.
Our total aggregate liability to you for any claim related to PlaneReports will not exceed the greater of (a) the total amount you've paid us in the twelve months preceding the claim, or (b) one hundred US dollars.
These limits apply regardless of the theory of liability and even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations, so parts of this section may not apply to you.
12. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Hound Dog Aviation LLC against claims arising from your misuse of the service, your violation of these terms, your violation of any third party's rights, or any records you upload — including any claim that a record you submitted was inaccurate, altered, or submitted without the right to submit it.
13. Governing Law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Florida, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Any disputes arising from or related to these terms or your use of PlaneReports will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Volusia County, Florida, and you consent to the personal jurisdiction of those courts.
14. Changes to These Terms
We may update these terms periodically. When we do, we'll update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. For material changes, we'll notify account holders by email and, where appropriate, ask you to acknowledge the updated terms before continuing to use your account. Your continued use of PlaneReports after a change constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
15. Termination
You may stop using PlaneReports at any time. We may suspend or terminate access to accounts that violate these terms, that we reasonably believe are involved in fraud or abuse, or that have been inactive for extended periods. Provisions that by their nature should survive termination (intellectual property, the licence in section 9, disclaimers of warranty, limitations of liability, indemnification, governing law) will survive.
16. Severability
If any provision of these terms is held invalid, illegal, or unenforceable, that provision will be modified to the minimum extent necessary to make it enforceable, or severed if it cannot be. The remaining provisions stay in full force.
17. Entire Agreement
These terms, together with the Privacy Policy, the Legal Notices, any acknowledgment you accepted when creating your account, and any order confirmation for a product you purchased, are the entire agreement between you and Hound Dog Aviation LLC regarding PlaneReports, and supersede any prior understanding on that subject. Our failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver of it.
18. Assignment
You may not assign or transfer these terms or your account without our written consent. We may assign these terms, in whole or in part, to an affiliate or in connection with a merger, acquisition, reorganization, or sale of all or substantially all of our assets. These terms bind and benefit each party's permitted successors and assigns.
